It has been a while since I’ve done a proper post on this little lady. I have debated whether or not to keep up with family stuff on this blog or stick with the old one for that. I’m hoping to some day move all those posts to this one. I just don’t see myself keeping up with two. One is hard enough 🙂
This girl turned 22 months old yesterday. She is my delight and at times my challenge, but mostly my delight. I wrote a few things on FB/Instagram yesterday, but there are more details about her right now that I have to get down so I remember them later…
-Like how in the last few days she has started “mothering” her baby doll and stuffed animals. She puts them in her high chair and takes them snacks, or pulls out the changing pad and a wipe and wipes between their legs. (Um…can I get her to start wiping between her own legs?)
-Like how she has finally learned to say yes AND no (it used to be “no” for everything, you had to listen to the tone in order to figure out what was actually a yes) but she still says “no” at funny times. “Corrie, are you holding your baby?” “no.” “oh…well what’s that in your arms?”(She probably just says “no” because she’s sarcastic like her mother and is thinking “what a dumb question mom, what’s it look like I’m doing?”)
-Like how she used to just sleep with Blankie and Baby in her crib, but now it’s Blankie and Baby, and another blankie, and Minnie Mouse, and Purple Guy (yeah, I don’t know how we named it that), and her cabbage patch baby, and a bunny, and usually a couple of other last minute selections…You would think she would just get in there and play but she doesn’t…she remains a great sleeper!
-Like how she LOVES jumping now. In her crib, on the couch…Sometimes I will hear her a few minutes after I’ve put her down, in her room, door shut and lights off, bouncing up and down and saying “jump jump jump!”
-Like how she has started exclaiming “it’s fun!”…I love this. On the swings, when I am twirling her around, coming down the slide…she will laugh and say this and my heart soars.
-Like how she has gone from crying sometimes when she’s dropped off for kids care at church or the gym, but now she is eager to get in there, yet she still perks right up and gets so excited when I come get her.
-Like how she now comes and grabs my hand sometimes if I’ve been working too long in the kitchen and pulls me into the living room, pats the couch and says “sit.” She is reminding me to be present and that sometimes we just need to sit next to each other.
-Like how every morning she now lets me know she is “all done” with her jammies and needs a dress.
-Like how she’s becoming more aware. In a store she will hear a baby crying and say “baby sad!”
I love this stage, I love her personality. She is sweet and tender still, but she is also blossoming. She is getting more courageous. I love her smell, her soft skin, how her limbs are stretching out, how she still has her giant tummy (I can’t wait for Spring, come quickly so my baby can run around in her diapers!)…I love her pigtails (also a regular now) and her big cheesy grins.
Two, you can come and go, my girlie and I are just going to grow closer together.
