Fat Free Ranch is a Liar and it’s Not the Only One
Fat Free Ranch. Makes Me Mad.
What? Why? Why would a salad dressing make someone mad? Well I’ll tell you why.
I get mad when people are deceptive. I get mad when people get deceived. I get mad when people think they are doing something to help themselves and they are actually harming themselves. I feel defensive for said people. I’ve been said person.
So what’s the deal with fat free ranch? That ranch has the audacity to masquerade itself as a health food, as a diet food. Unsuspecting people who are trying to help their bodies by eating some carrots or a salad think “hey if I put some ranch on this stuff I’ll actually eat it! I’ll go the extra distance and get the fat free stuff to really help save me from some calories and fat.” But there’s all kinds of NOT healthy at all for you stuff hiding in fat free ranch. When you take out the fat and real ingredients that would be in real ranch that isn’t sitting on a warm shelf, you have to add in other stuff to make the ranch taste good. You have to add in weird oils and sugar and chemicals whose names tie our tongues in knots.
Fat free ranch you are a fake and a phony and I want nothing to do with you.
But I’m not writing just because I’m mad at fat free Ranch. This fake food epidemic is just like another deceptive and fake issue. And that is for truth.
The World is Full of False Advertising…
The world is advertising a lot of stuff that’s like fat free ranch. It’s telling us that if we chase after sex and money that we will be happy and fulfilled. The world is saying “hey here’s something good for you! It’s going to make your life better! Try climbing the corporate ladder and making a name for yourself! Become a professional athlete or a celebrity and people will love you and you will be able to do whatever you want, and you will be SO happy!” The world is saying “Find your true love and you will live happily ever after!” It has one lie after another. Just like the “health” food at the store. The fat free ranch, the fat free licorice, the gluten free muffins…lies, lies, lies.
So how the heck do we tell the truth from the lies?
You get to know the real thing.
The Real Deal Tastes So Good
When we were living in Germany my husband and I decided to try buying some of our meat at the farmer’s market. We bought some free range organic chicken. OH. MY. GOODNESS.
I cooked it in a green curry that I had probably made 2,347 times before. But this time…
I remember saying to Ben, ‘This chicken!!! What the heck were we eating before?”
The difference was undeniable. Suddenly the chicken I used to buy seemed more like rubber than actual chicken. This chicken was juicy and soft and tender and…heavenly.
Having the real pure stuff ruined me for the typical “get it out of the frozen section who knows what went into these chickens” chicken.
Psalm 119 is a beautiful psalm about all the amazing aspects of God’s Word. Verses 103 and 104 say,
“How sweet are your words to my taste; they are sweeter than honey. Your commandments give me understanding; no wonder I hate every false way.”
I DO hate every false way. Because the false things that are deceiving us are HURTING US. The chemicals in the ranch are causing inflammation in our bodies. The fake sugars and the processed sugars in our fake foods are leading to obesity, heart disease, and auto immune disorders. The lies of the world are leading us to narcissism, selfishness, broken relationships, emptiness, depression, and more.
Real foods lead to bodies that heal themselves, vitality, energy, and strength. We don’t need fake sugar or fake truths. We have the pure sweetness of the word of truth.
The real truth, like real food leads to healthy souls, souls that house peace and joy, patience and kindness, and goodness.
Who doesn’t want that?
So I say down with you fat free Ranch. Down with you fat free, empty, lying, ruinous lies of the world. I am going to run to the truth every day. I am going to eat it and meditate on it and know what it is. I’m going to recognize the difference.
“Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.
Turn my eyes from worthless things and give me life through your word.
Your principles have been the music of my life throughout the years of my pilgrimage.
I reflect at night on who you are, O LORD, and I obey your law because of this.
This is my happy way of life: obeying your commandments.
Your Word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path” (vs 35, 37, 54-56, 105)
Run to the truth my friends! Jesus said “Sanctify them by the truth. Your word is truth.”
Pick up the book and start reading. If you don’t know where to start and you need help, contact me.
And for goodness sake, please stop buying fat free Ranch.
